Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026. This Privacy Policy covers the Bluewater UK online store and combines our privacy notice, the joint controller summary, and our cookie policy in one place.
1. Who we are
This privacy notice explains how your personal data is handled when you visit or buy from the Bluewater UK online store at bluewatergroup.com/en-gb (the Store).
For most personal data collected through the Store, two companies decide together why and how it is processed. Under UK data protection law they are joint controllers:
- Bluewater Sweden AB: Bluewater Sweden AB (Bluewater), org. no. 556901-2866, Frihamnsgatan 26, 115 56 Stockholm, Sweden. Bluewater owns the Store and is the product manufacturer.
- Beam: Stearn Electric Company Limited trading as Beam Group (Beam), company no. 00201097, registered office Votec House, Hambridge Lane, Newbury RG14 5TN, United Kingdom. Beam operates the Store and is the seller you buy from.
Because Bluewater is based outside the United Kingdom, Beam also acts as Bluewater's UK representative under Article 27 of the UK GDPR.
Some activities are handled by Beam alone as an independent controller, for example direct customer service conversations, order logistics and returns. Where that is the case, this notice says so.
2. The personal data we collect
Depending on how you use the Store we may collect:
- Identity and contact details: name, billing address, delivery address, email address and telephone number.
- Order information: products ordered, order value and delivery details. Card details are entered directly into our payment provider's secure gateway and are not stored by us.
- Enquiry and service information: the content of any query, complaint, return or warranty claim, plus your contact and purchase history.
- Technical and usage data: cookies, device and browsing data about how you use the Store. See the Cookies section below.
We do not ask for special category data such as health data. If you choose to share health related information when raising a product enquiry or safety claim, we will use it only as far as necessary to handle that matter.
3. How we use your data and our lawful bases
- Process and deliver your order: take payment, provide invoices and handle returns. Lawful basis: performance of your contract with Beam as seller.
- Customer service: handle enquiries, complaints, refunds and warranty claims. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in supporting customers, and legal obligations.
- Product safety and quality: at manufacturer level. Lawful basis: legitimate interests and legal obligations.
- Marketing: about Bluewater products where you have agreed, and measuring and improving our marketing. Lawful basis: consent for marketing messages, and legitimate interests for analytics. You can opt out at any time.
- Security, fraud prevention, legal and tax compliance: Lawful basis: legitimate interests and legal obligations.
4. The joint controller arrangement
Bluewater and Beam have agreed, in line with Article 26 of the UK GDPR, who is responsible for what. In summary:
- Beam collects your data through the Store, is your main point of contact, fulfils your order, provides customer service and handles returns.
- Bluewater owns the Store platform and the customer database held in Shopify and in Bluewater's HubSpot system, and uses the data for marketing and manufacturer level product matters.
- Both companies are responsible for keeping your data safe and for honouring your rights.
In short: Beam is your day to day contact and the company you buy from; Bluewater owns the Store platform and the customer database and leads marketing; both are responsible for protecting your data and honouring your rights. You can exercise your rights against either company using the contacts below, and you can ask us for the essence of this arrangement at any time.
5. Who we share your data with
We share your data with trusted providers who act on our instructions, including:
- Shopify: which hosts the Store and processes checkout.
- Our payment gateway provider: which processes your payment securely.
- Our delivery and installation partners: our couriers, to pick, pack and deliver your order, and JPD Contracts, where you have purchased professional installation, to contact you and carry out the installation visit.
- Gnatta: the tool we use to manage customer service by chat, email and WhatsApp.
- HubSpot: which we use for customer records, marketing and consent management.
We may also share data where required by law, or with professional advisers, regulators and authorities.
6. International transfers
The Store and most data are held in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Some providers, such as HubSpot, may process data in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we make sure it is protected, for example by relying on a country with a UK adequacy decision, on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. Order records are normally kept for 6 years to meet UK tax law. Marketing data is kept until you opt out.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent for marketing at any time. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
