World’s Top Major Golf Event Leverages Bluewater To Call Time on Single-use Plastic water Bottles

Call to action for stopping single-use plastic

St. Andrews, Scotland, is the home of golf, founded 148 years ago. Now the prestigious R&A golf club is blazing a new trail to stop marine plastic pollution. And harnessing Bluewater’s innovated technology and hydration solutions to help them halt the marine plastic epidemic.

Halting the marine plastic epidemic

The world’s foremost golf club – the R&A in St. Andrews, Scotland – has partnered with Bluewater to halt the ecologically damaging impact of plastics at the Royal Portrush Open golf tournament in Ireland, July 18-21.

The R&A wants to set a precedent for events around the planet as the first major global sporting event to remove single-use plastic water bottles in a move supported by the UN.

After painstaking research, the 148-year old Club carefully selected Bluewater as the leading global innovator in drinking water solutions to deliver a pioneering new approach to supplying fresh purified drinking water directly to tens of thousands of fans, players, staff and officials at The Open.

Bluewater is helping the R&A in its mission to change behavior by educating fans about the implications of the ‘throw-away’ and ‘single-use’ mindsets by supplying its innovated water stations and 100% recyclable and reusable stainless steel special edition bottles. Click here for more information.
